AAP's Praveen Sharma Elected Moga Mayor Amid Opposition Walkout

Praveen Sharma of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was elected mayor of Moga Municipal Corporation with support from 31 of 50 councillors, filling a vacancy since November 2025. The election followed the expulsion of former mayor Baljit Singh Chani over alleged drug trafficking links, which he denied. Opposition parties, including Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal, boycotted the election, accusing AAP of coercion, while officials stated the process was conducted peacefully under supervision.
