
A parliamentary committee has highlighted a 14.9% vacancy rate in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), with 1,088 posts unfilled against a sanctioned strength of 7,300. The committee recommended establishing a reserve panel or waitlist system to address recruitment shortfalls, noting that some candidates recommended by UPSC and SSC do not join. It also urged a root cause analysis of attrition in the sub-inspector cadre to improve staffing and operational efficiency.
