Pakistan is considering several measures to manage fuel consumption amid disruptions caused by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia. The government plans to introduce weekly petroleum price revisions, compensate oil companies for increased costs, and implement work-from-home policies and online classes to conserve fuel. Pakistan currently holds about 500,000 tonnes each of petrol and diesel, sufficient for roughly 25-28 days. Alternative oil supply routes through the Red Sea are also being explored to maintain energy security.
