The Barapullah Phase-3 project in Delhi, aimed at enhancing connectivity between East and South Delhi, faces a 15-month delay with a new completion target set for 2027. Initially sanctioned in 2015 with an estimated cost of Rs 1,260.63 crore, the project’s cost has escalated by Rs 374.40 crore to Rs 1,653.03 crore. Delays and cost overruns are attributed to factors beyond the Public Works Department's control, including land acquisition and shifting of high-tension lines. An inquiry into alleged irregularities was ordered by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and a fresh proposal for cost adjustments is being prepared for cabinet approval.
