Tarique Rahman, acting chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, visited the grave of his father, former president Ziaur Rahman, in Dhaka, marking his first public appearance in Bangladesh since 2006. The visit brought renewed attention to the 1981 assassination of Ziaur Rahman, who was killed during an official visit to Chittagong by a group of army officers. The assassination occurred during an assault on the Circuit House where Ziaur Rahman was staying.
