According to Radio Free Asia, six Uyghurs in Hotan Prefecture were detained for secretly observing the fast, with heightened security measures and forced early morning labor reported. The WUC and UN experts highlight these actions as part of broader policies limiting religious freedom and promoting cultural assimilation in the region.
