Senior Janata Dal (United) leader K C Tyagi resigned from the party on March 17, a day after Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar won a Rajya Sabha seat. Tyagi, who held key roles in JD(U) since its 2003 formation, cited non-renewal of his party membership and expressed continued commitment to farmers and marginalized groups. He maintained respect for Nitish Kumar, with whom he shared a political association for nearly five decades. Tyagi plans to discuss his future political path, likely involving Uttar Pradesh, at a meeting on March 22.
