India is increasingly providing financial assistance and loans to countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, reflecting its growing global role. The Union Budget 2024-25 allocates Rs 5,667.56 crore for foreign aid, with Bhutan receiving the largest share (Rs 2,068.56 crore). Other significant recipients include Nepal, the Maldives, Mauritius, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka. This lending occurs while India manages its own external debt, which stood at approximately $558.5 billion by March 2020.
