Punjab SIT Recovers 169 Missing Guru Granth Sahib 'Saroops', CM Mann Addresses Case

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) recovered 169 missing 'saroops' (sacred copies) of Guru Granth Sahib from two deras near Banga in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district. Of these, 139 lacked official records or serial numbers, raising concerns about unauthorized distribution. The SIT has requested documentation from the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), and the recovered saroops will be handed over to SGPC following Akal Takht's directions. The case dates back to a 2020 audit revealing 328 missing saroops, with criminal proceedings initiated in December 2025.
