Bar Council of India Allows Final-Year Law Students to Take AIBE Twice Annually

The Bar Council of India (BCI) has informed the Supreme Court that the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) will now be conducted twice annually. Under the newly framed BCI Rules, 2026, final-semester LLB students who clear their university exams are eligible to appear for the AIBE, a mandatory test for advocate enrolment. This change aims to prevent delays in law graduates' professional careers. The Supreme Court disposed of a 2024 petition seeking these reforms after the BCI's submission.
