The Punjab Assembly convened a special session to pass a resolution against the Centre's new Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, alleging it undermines the MGNREGA and imposes an undue financial burden on states. The AAP government accused the BJP-led Centre of trying to finish MGNREGA, while workers expressed fear over rule changes. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan criticized the assembly's move as undemocratic and unconstitutional, asserting states must abide by parliamentary laws.
