Safety Approval Granted for Chennai Metro Phase II Poonamallee-Porur Stretch

The Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety, Anant Madhukar Chowdhary, has approved the operation of the first stretch of phase II of Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) from Poonamallee Bypass to Porur Junction. This 14.6-km segment of Corridor 4 (Yellow Line) includes 10 stations. Initial train services will run at 15-minute intervals, with limited operations between Porur and Vadapalani pending completion of infrastructure work expected by March 25. The approval is a key step toward the formal inauguration of this phase II section.
