
Maharashtra has declared a public holiday across 29 municipal corporations, including Mumbai, Pune, Thane, and Navi Mumbai, to facilitate voting in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections held on January 15. Polling runs from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, with around 1,700 candidates contesting 227 wards. While most offices and schools are closed, essential services like emergency healthcare and public transport remain operational to support voters.
