Nagaland Assembly Session Highlights Attendance Concerns and FNTA Bill Introduction

During the ongoing eighth session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio expressed concern over poor attendance among MLAs and government officers, urging improved participation. He announced the introduction of the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA) Bill, based on a February 2026 Memorandum of Agreement with the Government of India and Eastern Nagaland Peoples' Organisation, aiming to address Eastern Nagaland's aspirations while maintaining state autonomy. Rio emphasized the state government's role as a facilitator in the broader Naga political negotiations and highlighted efforts to ensure accurate data collection for Census 2027.
