Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced plans to establish Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) in all 58 development blocks to improve tribal education access. The state currently has 12 functioning EMRS, with 21 approved since 2018. Saha is advocating for relaxed eligibility criteria, which currently require a block to have at least 50% tribal population and 20,000 tribal residents, to enable wider school establishment.
