Pakistan Expresses Concern Over India-Canada Uranium Supply Agreement

India and Canada signed a $2.6 billion uranium supply agreement on March 2, 2026, under which Canada's Cameco Corp. will provide about 22 million pounds of uranium ore concentrate to India between 2027 and 2035. The deal supports India's civilian nuclear reactors and includes cooperation on advanced nuclear technologies. Pakistan expressed concern, describing the agreement as a country-specific exception in civil nuclear cooperation and referencing India's 1974 nuclear test involving Canadian-supplied reactor material, which led to the Nuclear Suppliers Group's formation.
