
Delhi's health minister has directed the Directorate General of Health Services to ensure priority and timely treatment for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) patients in 56 identified private hospitals. The government mandates 25% of outpatient and 10% of inpatient services be free for EWS patients, with the income eligibility raised from Rs 2.2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh annually. An online portal for real-time bed occupancy and strengthened referral systems aim to enhance transparency and access, while strict monitoring and inspections will enforce compliance.
