IAF Sukhoi Su-30MKI Fighter Jet Goes Missing in Assam; Search Underway

A Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter jet of the Indian Air Force went missing from radar shortly after taking off from Jorhat airbase in Assam's Karbi Anglong district on March 5, 2026. The aircraft was last in contact at 7:42 pm during a training sortie. Search and rescue operations have been launched to locate the jet and its two pilots. Locals reported hearing a loud explosion and possible crash in a remote forested, hilly area, but official confirmation of the crash is pending.
