The Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC) has approved a new Cost Data Book (CDB) for power consumers, effective from 2025. This revision, the first since 2019, updates rates for various charges like processing fees, security deposits, and material costs for extending electricity distribution networks. Key changes include simplified 'Supply Affording Charges' for connections up to 150 kW, reducing the need for individual estimates and site inspections for shorter distances. Lifeline consumers can now pay charges partly upfront and partly via installments, with no security deposit required.
