CBI Files FIR Over Alleged Embezzlement of Disability Scholarship Funds in Five States

The CBI has registered an FIR against unidentified government officials and nodal officers in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Jammu and Kashmir, and Madhya Pradesh for allegedly embezzling over Rs 11.4 crore from the Umbrella Scholarship Scheme for students with disabilities. The investigation follows a complaint alleging funds were disbursed to non-existent or closed institutes and students, with some institutions unaware of the scholarships. Charges include criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery, and corruption under various IPC sections and the IT Act.
