The Andhra Pradesh government will pay Rs 4,500 crore in true-up power dues to distribution companies (DISCOMS) to prevent hardship for consumers. These accumulated revenue and cost gaps, amounting to Rs 1,552 crore for APSPDCL, Rs 1,163 crore for APCPDCL, and Rs 1,783 crore for APEPDCL, reportedly stem from the previous YSRCP government's tenure (2019-2024). The state government's decision aims to avoid tariff shocks, with the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission directing DISCOMS to claim the amount.
