Bombay HC Orders Reconsideration of COVID-19 Compensation Despite Negative RT-PCR Report

The Bombay High Court directed the Ahilyanagar district collector to reconsider a ₹50 lakh compensation claim under the Prime Minister's Garib Kalyan Yojna for the family of nurse Manda Gaikwad, who died during the COVID-19 pandemic. The court ruled that a negative RT-PCR report alone cannot reject the claim when other medical evidence, including CT scans and cause of death certificates, indicates COVID-19 infection. The collector was instructed to process the claim based on the overall medical records.
