Sanitation Lapses at Sector 26 Mandi Lead to Employee Suspensions and Fines

Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria conducted a surprise inspection of the Sector 26 grain, fruit, and vegetable market, identifying sanitation lapses. Following the visit, the administration terminated the outsourced sanitary inspector Harvinder Kumar, suspended two Market Committee employees, and fined a private firm Rs 50,000. Show-cause notices were issued to several officials for failing to maintain hygiene and supervise sanitation work. Authorities have directed corrective measures and sought explanations from responsible personnel.
