Kosovo's parliament failed to elect a new president by the constitutional deadline, as Prime Minister Albin Kurti's ruling Vetevendosje party could not secure enough support for its candidate, Foreign Minister Glauk Konjufca. With only 66 lawmakers present, below the required 80 quorum, the political deadlock led President Vjosa Osmani to dissolve parliament and call for snap elections. This would be Kosovo's third parliamentary vote in just over a year amid ongoing political instability.
