Kerala High Court Permits Correction of Father's Name on Birth Certificate in Extra-Marital Case

The Kerala High Court permitted changing the father's name on a child's birth certificate from the mother's ex-husband to her new husband, the biological father, in a case involving an extra-marital relationship. Justice PV Kunhikrishnan highlighted that men also possess dignity and self-respect, noting the social stigma a husband may face when named father of a child not biologically his. The ex-husband did not oppose the change, prioritizing the child's welfare. The court directed the municipal authorities to update the record accordingly.
