An eviction drive has commenced in Doboka, Hojai district, to clear approximately 6,000 bighas of encroached reserved forest land. Around 1,250 families were identified as encroachers, with 152 families temporarily excluded due to ongoing court cases. The operation, involving significant security deployment and heavy machinery, aims to reclaim forest land. While the administration asserts the drive is lawful and for forest protection, some local groups have alleged political motives and called for rehabilitation of affected families. Special Chief Secretary MK Yadav is overseeing the process.
