Israeli officials report that Mohammad Pakpour, commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was likely killed in joint Israeli and US airstrikes targeting senior Iranian military and political figures on February 28. Pakpour, appointed in 2025 after the death of his predecessor Hossein Salami, had warned Israel and the US against miscalculations amid rising tensions. Tehran has not officially confirmed his death. The strikes also targeted sites near Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's office, who was reportedly moved to a secure location amid escalating regional conflict.
