
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated a 70 MW solar power plant in Dhubri district, raising the state's total solar capacity to 680 MW, expected to reach 730 MW by April with another 50 MW project in Sonitpur. Developed jointly by SJVN Green Energy Limited and Assam Power Development Corporation, the Rs 350 crore project will generate 141 million units annually and reduce carbon emissions. The government aims to clear encroachments on land for development and targets 3,500 MW solar capacity by 2030 to boost clean energy and local employment.
