The Supreme Court collegium, led by Chief Justice Surya Kant, has adopted a new policy to transfer judges proposed as chief justices of high courts well in advance, preferably two months before the vacancy arises. This aims to help them familiarize themselves with the court's functioning before assuming charge. Following this, Justice Lisa Gill is recommended for transfer from Punjab and Haryana High Court to Andhra Pradesh High Court as Chief Justice, effective upon the incumbent's retirement. Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari is recommended as Chief Justice of Madras High Court. Additionally, nine advocates have been recommended for appointment as judges of the Patna High Court.
