The Congress and the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA), led by Prakash Ambedkar, have formed an alliance for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. Under the agreement, the VBA will contest 62 of the 227 seats, while the Congress will field candidates in over 150 wards. Both parties cite shared ideologies and a commitment to constitutional values as the basis for their alliance, aiming to counter the BJP's politics. This partnership revives a tie-up that last occurred over 25 years ago and is expected to consolidate Dalit and minority votes for the Congress.
