Delhi's Public Works Department (PWD) plans to deploy armed security guards at the Signature Bridge to combat rising incidents of theft and infrastructure damage. One guard with a gun will be stationed primarily at night, supported by two unarmed guards during the day. This measure, part of a Rs 1.5 crore tender, aims to address attacks on existing guards by thieves who have cut iron grills and damaged the bridge. The bridge, opened in 2018, has also been noted for suicide incidents.
