Canadian PM Mark Carney Visits India to Reset Ties and Boost Trade Cooperation

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is visiting India from February 26 to March 7 to reset bilateral ties after a period of diplomatic strain marked by allegations linking India to violent crimes in Canada. Ahead of the visit, Canadian officials stated they no longer believe India is involved in such activities, signaling a shift from the previous administration's stance. The visit focuses on reviving trade negotiations, including the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), and expanding cooperation in sectors like energy, technology, AI, defence, and infrastructure. Both countries aim to strengthen economic and strategic partnerships amid ongoing security dialogues.
