Protests at Varanasi's Manikarnika Ghat Over Alleged Damage to Ahilyabai Holkar Statue

Dozens of protesters, mainly from the Pal community and some from Prayagraj and Bihar, gathered at Varanasi's Manikarnika Ghat to protest alleged damage to a statue of Rani Ahilyabai Holkar during redevelopment work. They sought restoration of the statue and attempted to submit a memorandum to district officials. Police, citing lack of permission and disruption concerns, used force to disperse the crowd and detained 16 to 18 individuals for questioning. Authorities have not registered any FIR yet.
