Residents began returning to Aleppo's Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood on Sunday after days of intense clashes between Syrian government forces and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The fighting, which erupted Tuesday over integration disputes, resulted in at least 23 deaths and displaced over 140,000 people. Security forces have since taken control of Achrafieh and Bani Zaid neighborhoods. The SDF stated they would continue fighting after evacuating wounded and civilians, accusing the government of repeatedly targeting the Khalid al-Fajer Hospital. The government countered that the SDF used civilian facilities as military positions.
