Sri Lanka Implements Four-Day Workweek and Fuel Rationing Amid West Asia Conflict

Sri Lanka has announced a four-day workweek for government institutions, schools, and universities, declaring every Wednesday a public holiday starting March 18 to conserve fuel amid disruptions caused by the ongoing conflict in West Asia. Essential services such as healthcare, ports, water supply, and customs will continue operating normally. The government has also introduced fuel rationing and encouraged the private sector to adopt similar measures. These steps aim to manage limited fuel reserves amid concerns over supply disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz.
