
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced that the state will soon have a third district named Kushavati, after a local river. This new district will encompass four talukas currently under South Goa district: Dharbandora, Quepem, Sanguem, and Canacona. Quepem town will serve as its headquarters. The state plans to request central government funds, as it will be an aspirational district, to develop infrastructure for the region, which has a significant tribal population.
