Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Khaleda Zia was buried beside her late husband, former President Ziaur Rahman, at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in Dhaka. Rahman, assassinated in 1981, was initially buried in Chattogram and later exhumed and reburied in Dhaka with state honors. The burial site, previously known by various names including Chandrima Udyan and Zia Udyan, was the location chosen by an interim government for Rahman's reinterment due to his role in introducing multi-party democracy. Zia passed away after a prolonged illness and was also laid to rest with state honors.
