
A senior CPI(M) leader, Kanti Ganguly, expressed support for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls but voiced concerns that Hindu refugees from Bangladesh settled in West Bengal might be disproportionately affected. He stated that the two-to-three-month timeframe for the challenging task was insufficient for a foolproof revision. Ganguly suggested the Election Commission should have provided clearer guidelines to prevent confusion and speculation among voters.
