Eleven Maoists, Including Senior Leader Nakul, Surrender to Odisha Police in Kalahandi

Eleven Maoists, including Divisional Committee member Nakul who carried a 22 lakh reward, surrendered to Odisha Police in Kalahandi. The group, active in the Bansadhara-Ghumsar-Nagavali division and comprising senior cadres from Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, handed over 11 weapons. Officials cited sustained security operations and recent leadership losses as factors weakening Maoist influence. The surrendered members will receive over Rs 1.23 crore in compensation under the state’s rehabilitation policy. About 15 Maoists remain active, mainly in Kandhamal district.
