Apple Growers to Protest US Duty-Free Apple Imports Under Trade Pact

Apple growers from Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand plan to protest in Delhi against a proposed duty concession allowing duty-free imports of US apples under an interim trade pact. The Apple Farmers Federation of India (AFFI) fears that US apples flooding the market could harm domestic producers. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha has pledged support for the protest. Leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami criticized the trade deal, citing concerns over India's trade sovereignty and economic impact on local farmers.
