
A two-day coastal security exercise named 'Sagar Kavach' was conducted from March 12 to 13 along the Kerala coast and Mahe to evaluate the preparedness of various agencies against asymmetric maritime threats. The exercise involved Indian Naval ships, Coast Guard assets, Coastal Police, Customs, Marine Enforcement Wing, and Cochin Port Authority, with extensive aerial surveillance. Led by Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, the drill focused on enhancing multi-layered sea security, validating harbour defenses, and employing technology-driven surveillance, emphasizing collaboration including the fishing community's role. Operations were coordinated from the Joint Operations Centre in Kochi.
