Government Mandates Biometric Aadhaar e-KYC for Domestic LPG Consumers Nationwide

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has mandated biometric Aadhaar-based e-KYC for all domestic LPG consumers to continue receiving cylinder refills and subsidies. Verification can be completed digitally via Oil Marketing Companies' mobile apps and the Aadhaar FaceRD app, allowing consumers to authenticate from home. Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, beneficiaries receive subsidies for up to nine refills annually, with e-KYC required beyond seven refills. The government also encourages switching to piped natural gas to ease LPG supply pressures amid ongoing supply challenges.
