Government Mandates Biometric e-KYC for Domestic LPG Consumers Amid Supply Challenges

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has mandated biometric Aadhaar authentication (e-KYC) for all domestic LPG consumers to avail subsidies and ensure continued supply amid energy disruptions. Consumers can complete e-KYC from home using Oil Marketing Companies' mobile apps and the Aadhaar FaceRD app. The government provides targeted subsidies for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries, who must complete e-KYC annually to access more than seven refills per year. Assistance is available via LPG distributors and a toll-free helpline.
