Tamil Nadu's Community Health Officers (CHOs) have temporarily suspended their 11-hour protest after the government assured discussions on their demands, including a significant pay hike. The CHOs, numbering around 4,000, are seeking wages comparable to other states, citing their current Rs 18,900 monthly salary against a national average of Rs 40,000. They also requested paid maternity leave and allowances for additional duties.
