Punjab Opposition Demands White Paper Amid Rising State Debt Concerns

Punjab Congress leader Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has called for a white paper on the state's finances, citing Punjab's debt exceeding Rs 4 lakh crore and projected to reach Rs 4.17 lakh crore by fiscal year-end. He criticized the Aam Aadmi Party government for adding over Rs 1 lakh crore in debt within four years, mostly for unproductive purposes, contrasting it with previous governments' borrowing over three decades. Warring also alleged excessive spending on non-essential items despite the financial strain. Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia echoed concerns about the state's borrowing and infrastructure development.
