In response, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) dismissed Shah's remarks as baseless falsehoods, with senior leader Bratya Basu asserting the BJP would not exceed 50 seats and would suffer a humiliating defeat. TMC spokesperson Jay Prakash Majumdar also criticized the BJP's alleged temple-based polarizing politics, stating it would be rejected by Bengal's voters.
