Union Home Minister Amit Shah claimed the BJP would secure a two-thirds majority in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, vowing to identify and remove infiltrators. In response, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) dismissed Shah's remarks as baseless falsehoods, with senior leader Bratya Basu asserting the BJP would not exceed 50 seats and would suffer a humiliating defeat. TMC spokesperson Jay Prakash Majumdar also criticized the BJP's alleged temple-based polarizing politics, stating it would be rejected by Bengal's voters.
