US Will Not Target Iran's Energy Sector Amid Conflict, Seeks to Restore Strait of Hormuz Flow

Despite Israeli strikes on oil storage facilities near Tehran and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, which handles about 20% of global crude oil and liquefied natural gas transit, Wright said these impacts will be short-lived, lasting weeks rather than months. He also noted that a large oil tanker recently passed through the Strait without issues, and the US aims to restore energy flow while reducing Iran's missile and drone capabilities.
