Trump Announces Board of Peace to Oversee Gaza Governance and Reconstruction

The board, chaired by Trump, includes US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Jared Kushner, World Bank President Ajay Banga, and others. It will supervise a Palestinian technocratic body led by Ali Sha'ath, tasked with restoring services and governance in Gaza. The plan also appoints Major General Jasper Jeffers to lead an international stabilization force. While Israel and Hamas have agreed to the plan, some rights experts criticize the board's structure as resembling colonial oversight, and Blair's involvement has drawn controversy due to his past role in the Iraq war.
