
The Rajasthan government has confirmed there is no current proposal to make educational qualifications mandatory for candidates contesting urban local body or panchayat elections, allowing illiterate candidates to remain eligible. Meanwhile, a proposal to remove the disqualification of candidates with more than two children is under consideration in the Law Department. These clarifications were provided in a written response to Congress MLA Pusaram Godara in the Legislative Assembly, marking the first official written stance on these issues.
