Goa will establish a third district, with its headquarters in Quepem, comprising the talukas of Sangeum, Dharbandora, Quepem, and Canacona, currently part of the South Goa district. This decision, approved by the Goa Cabinet and discussed with legislators across party lines, aims to improve governance and accessibility, aligning with NITI Aayog recommendations for smaller districts. A committee had previously examined the proposal.
